Is that the mod squad? Perhaps after a fashion! :)
In fact, we took a gander at the UVA grounds (heaven forbid we refer to the place as a "campus") due to Ben's interest in their Ph.D. program and IES fellowship opportunities.
Much time was spent in rapt amazement at the DNC on hi-def, big-screen TV. Ben had the laptop in front of him much of the time (to his chagrin and slight regret) in an effort to socialize and manage files simultaneously. Sue, however, has retained her spark. The evidence?

Our departure from C'ville was bittersweet, though it became much sweeter in a literal sense due to the tomato and biscuit offerings of the Michie Tavern. Please note, if you will, the "historic" stein for our cider.

About 10 hours of traffic later (traveller's tip: avoid the Beltways!), our triumphant return to NJ had commenced. Within 12 hours, we were on the road again, lifting and sorting and packing to help Matt move. The carrot at the end of that particular stick was familial closeness, though, for J, there was an additional incentive...King Soop's cherry chip cookies in mini form! (Word is that they have a deliciousness no sweaty t-shirt can undermine.)

I'm sure he's happy we're posting this photo. ;-) But note the sparkling excitement in those eyes! Cherry chip cookies for all!
Because we're unable to remain in one place long these days, we're shuffling "down the shore" with Karen to see Kathy and Dave on LBI. Tomorrow, it's back to Montclair, and Tuesday we're due in PA to tour a school. Maybe by Wednesday we'll stay in one place for more than twenty hours? Maybe!
Happy holiday weekend, friends! Enjoy something grilled for us, will you?

Glad to read that you're "home", safe and sound. John does look quite happy about the cherry chip cookies, but maybe, too, that you're back. No doubt Matt was glad of the moving help.
ReplyDeleteHope to see or talk to you soon.
