Evidence that spring might reach the northern lands as well as the Piedmont Valley:
Our weekend in the "Liberty and Prosperity State" was filled with adventures in cupcakes, job news, live music, freelancing, pizza (ambrosia?), and walks in the woods -- basically like any other weekend we've ever had in New Jersey.
We got in late on Thursday night, which means we have plenty of television to catch up on (though we already demanded the new Survivor. Priorities!). Ben spent Friday at his northern offices with clients, slaving away over chai and talking a particular painter out of starting a for-pay Latino tickle site. Don't ask. Seriously. It might actually be illegal. ;-)
That night, we convened with Mashley in Asbury Park for a good old fashioned rock show at the Stone Pony. Railroad Earth were in rare form. They hit all our favorites, and the kids, well, they dance and shake their bones until the early morning.
And then those kids have to wake up the next morning because someone brilliantly scheduled an 8am dentist's appointment. Dawn seemed to arrive particularly early on Saturday. We made a special effort to stay awake throughout the day by hiking, playing Wii tetris, seeing a great movie, and eating at Moe's.The Preserve (and, frankly, most of New Jersey) was filled with twigs, sticks, debris, and various other results of the crazy winds last week. Otherwise, all is well with the birds.
Multiple Plainsboro & West Windsor trails were blessed with our presence over the weekend. May we suggest you avoid a particular leg of the Grover's Mill Delaware & Raritan Greenway? There are weird trees growing through fences along the path. Spare yourselves from the sight.
This vista overlooking the Mill Pond swamps was rather picturesque, but otherwise you're not missing much. At Mercer County Park, we saw many water fowl and bike tracks. We weren't expecting much after the swamp.
We screeched back into C'ville late Sunday night, just in time to roll out our new rug and get some sleep before work (Ben) and an interview (Meg). I didn't get the Monticello position, though I made some valuable contacts there, and have a few more prospects on the horizon. If not Monticello, how about Montpelier? I'll pretty much take whichever framer of the Constitution I can get.
