An Exciting, Exhausting Beginning to 2009

We had many fond farewells to Plainsboro, including this one by way of a sunset hike at the Preserves on Friday afternoon. We saw many of Plainsboro's geese incoming at Lake McCormick.

Then we were onward headlong southern bound.

We've arrived in the Commonwealth to much fanfare. We drove through a beautiful day Saturday, uncharacteristically warm and spring-like for January.

Saturday evening, we saw the new place and hauled up some boxes. The afore-photographed kitchen is by far the highlight of the apartment, so here's another shot:

In an effort to find folding indoor-outdoor furniture for our TV-viewing, we stopped by Plow and Hearth on the outskirts of town Sunday afternoon. We didn't get any chairs, but we did have a weird time co-mingling with some locals and testing out very expensive wicker in the balmy Shedandoah afternoon.

During an inaugural dinner at the Mellow Mushroom pizzaria (O! college towns!), I heard an old familiar tune, and felt a little better about a difficult transition.

Ben's dealing with HR miscommunications and delays, resulting in an uncertain start date, so we're busily unpacking, hauling, and sorting.

Until our next installment, we leave you (and by you, we mostly mean Dave), a photo of our street sign coordinates. He'll understand. We're hoping this is a "sign" from the universe, guiding our moves toward truth, justice, and the American way. ;-)
