A glimpse of good tidings:
We found the vegetarian Chinese restaurant in town, which is a bit of a dive (or maybe just has "character"). Luckily, it also has meat analogs, including kung pao "chick'n" and "p'rk" in garlic sauce fo' cheap. What it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in seitan and soy.

I will choose to believe the place has "character". My definition of a "dive" requires that the entrance be below street level, i.e., you go down into a dive. Also, a dive would never have such flowers.
ReplyDeleteI should be more clear, Dave: the flowers are on the kitchen counter in our apartment. Maybe the restaurant did have "character" -- it was on street-level, but was definitely amidst warehouses and next to an Asian bodega. And smelled like I imagine dives smelling. ;-) But the fake meat was worth it!
